There are children dying.
These children are not dying of starvation, disease or at the physical hand of another person. These children are killing themselves.
KILLING THEMSELVES
And why? Not because they are gay, but because they are made to feel like lesser human beings because of who they might love. MIGHT love! These are teenagers! They don’t love anyone anyone yet, they art even old enough to know how to love!
These kids are being bombarded with messages from people who are supposed to be working for everyone, working from their own agendas! Dont Ask Dont Tell, Gay Marriage Rights etc. Tell me who the fuck is benefiting right now from all this back and forth? Because it sure as hell isn’t the families of these dead children.
We were all awkward in some way as teenagers. Fat, thin, acne, tall, short, dumb, smart, poor, rich… we had to deal with it but we never turned on the tv to see people debating whether or not we should be allowed to live our lives as ourselves.
Im stuck right now. I can’t even write whats in my head because of the absolute disbelief. Were completely ok with having tv shows focusing on a man marrying 4 different women (at the same time) but we cant accept 2 people of the same sex loving each other? Really?! REALLY?!
I have said it a million god damn times… Genitals don’t fall in love, People fall in love. People, humans, sisters, uncles, fathers, daughters. To define people by one very small aspect of their lives is to miss out on the best of these people. People, doctors, chefs, teachers, volunteers, singers, scientists, police.
Hurting yourself is never the answer. Suicide is NEVER the answer.
We are all here for a purpose, to love and be loved. Someone loves you. Reach out, ask for help, dont leave people behind asking what they could have done.
