1. When a man may or may not love a woman…

Ah Frustration my old friend. I can’t honestly say i’ve missed you.

It happens to everyone. You meet someone, you become friends, you realize your friend is made of awesome, you start to think about your friend first thing in the morning and last thing at night and then you start to notice your friend doing things they didnt do before.

And the wondering begins… You wonder what theyre thinking. You wonder what they think of you. You wonder if they wonder if there could be more to the friendship. You wonder if you should say something. You wonder if you should just shut up and not ruin a fantastic friendship. You wonder if you have liquor and chocolate in the house.

For weeks you either sulk or giggle. You talk to your girlfriends, your online friends, your mother, your friends husbands, yourself. You flip back and forth between thinking youre crazy and thinking they are crazy for not scooping you up.

All that is a sign. This isnt just a fleeting attraction. This, my friends, is a crush. A low down, dirty, buy the wall posters, get the ringtone, write your names in a heart Crush.

As a grown up, you know its different then your teenage crushes. You know you’re not in love, youre not sketching wedding dresses, youre not in it to show off to your friends. You have learned that people are people are people with feelings and thoughts even if your focus wanders to their butt. You do know the feeling of butterflies, that little slice of your heart that beats a little faster.

You know however that you dont want to ruin a friendship that is really important to you.

So what do you do? Youre scared, sad, frustrated and worried but youre also happy to know youre capable of caring so much.

By this point Im sure you’ve figured out, you is actually me. Me is actually thinking all these wonderfully happy, silly, frustrating, maddening thoughts. Problem being I may have missed my window.

So I leave you with this little piece of advice my Angels, take the risk. Reach out, say something, open the bottle of emotions. Can anything bad actually come out of telling someone you think theyre great? You think theyre worth more of your time? That the stupid poem about how theres always one person in the world thinking about each of us at any moment is right? And if its one sided, at least you know and can move on and know that your friendship remains based on honesty and personal truth.
